..continued from yesterday
here are the other two.
Sorry guys. Yesterday I left you hanging with a promise of three new books and then only talking about one of them. So here are the other two.
You may recall my good friend Mark Eddy from his radio show where he has interviewed me a few times. Well, Mark has completed the first of his planned trilogy focusing on the prehistory of the upper Ohio River basin in his home of West Virginia. If you are a fan of the well-known “Ohio mounds” you will likely be surprised at how many similar structures have lain forgotten in the state. Fans of fluvial geomorphology will get their fix as well. There’s also something for the paleontologists among us.
I also recently had the pleasure of working with the Stellat’en First Nation, located here in central BC to help them bring a very dear project to fruition. This book began way back in the late 80’s with a set of interview with the tribal elders. The intent was to capture the beauty of the traditional way of life by gathering oral knowledge and photography of the breathtaking vistas that grace the traditional territory.
“Our History is in the Land: An Oral History of the Stellat’en” is an phenomenal multi-generational rendition of ancestral knowledge encapsulated in coffee-table book form.
Cheers for now!
Ken
